Remark

N8**NW Today the early morning rush of eastbound planes left contrails that lasted forever. Even more remarkable is the nearly perfect grid in the sky, that is being completed by a plane far away

Remark

G-VFOX (cn 449) 5 for the price of one! This is why I get up early to go to LHR. Virgin A346 is followed by a Saudi 772, BA 744 and a Virgin A343. Add that to the crossing traffic and the fact the sun hasn't even got above the horizon yet, it was a good day. (Nikon D3 + 200-400mm)

NASA
Rockwell Space Shuttle
Off-Airport - Kennedy Space Center
USA - Florida, August 8, 2007
Remark
Photographer
OV-105 (cn OV-105) "Endeavour" on STS-118 Mission to the ISS. The roll maneuver starts with the orbiter beginning a combined roll, pitch and yaw maneuver that positions the head down, with wings level & aligned with the launch pad. She flies upside down in ascent phase. This orientation, together with trajectory shaping, establishes a trim angle of attack favorable for aerodynamic load & pilot ground reference. 3 cardboard covers of the RSS nozzles are falling off now and about to be burned.[Canon 1Ds MkII;600mm IS L;2X]

Rockwell Space Shuttle
In Flight
USA - Florida, November 27, 2009
Remark
Photographer
OV-104 (cn OV-104) If one had an opportunity fly in formation with a space shuttle orbiter in the Earth's atmosphere, it would look like this. I purposely chose to have Earth background so that a sense of scale and depth can be gleaned. With commander Charles Hobaugh at the controls, "Atlantis" executed a sweeping right overhead turn to lose altitude and speed to line up for landing. The two sonic booms heralding the arrival in Florida occurred just prior. Welcome home "Atlantis"! Dear President Obama, Please keep them flying!
