N533PS (cn 19688/589) A clear blue sky, a classic, colourful aircraft and a classical structure which identifies this busy airport. What more could one ask! Sadly, two and a half years later on 25 September 1978, another clear blue sky day, this aircraft and a Cessna 172 (N7711G) had a fatal mid-air collision over San Diego, California, claiming the lives of all 135 on board and seven on the ground.

N1063T (cn 45777/80) Final Departure, Flight 553. On my very first road trip to photograph airliners I spent the day at PIT. Driving home that evening I heard on the radio that a TWA flight from PIT had a mid-air collision with a Beechcraft over Ohio. This is THAT FLIGHT, Flt 553, about to leave the gate at PIT. The aircraft was less than two months old, and I've never seen another photo of it.

N68650 (cn 18295/4) Gloom and Doom. My first multi day trip to the New York area was a washout--literally. After getting off a few shots in EWR Friday morning it began to rain, and was still doing so Sunday afternoon as I waited for my flight home at LGA. I snapped a couple of shots through the window, this being the only one usable. Less than a month later this 727 collided mid-air with a Cessna 310 over North Carolina and was destroyed.
