VH-VQF (cn 3474) At Flight level340 high over the southern coast of Borneo we encounter some intense St Elmo's fire while passing around some large cumulus clouds. Radar is in manual mode giving rather intense picture on our ND's which is caused by the unfiltered display shows all rainfall.Normally a display like this would be avoided but with the unfiltered display showing even light rainfall as red(no its not a thunderstorm just light rain)in manual mode makes it relatively easy to get the smooth ride through any wx. |

CS-TKN (cn 624) This month of November had been really good for us spotters, with so many different things coming by!! Not being a different A/C, this one deserved some attention... These pilots were caught in some wind shear, and it was really close to total disaster, since the wing almost touched the ground! You can also see the stress in main landing gear... At that time, there were gusts up to 44 knots of crosswind, and heavy turbulence was reported! I'm glad that everything ended up well.. [Canon 40D + Sigma 120-400 |

D-AID* This is what a rush hour is (NY STYLE OF COURSE). Rwy 13R was departing while arriving rwys were 13L & 22L !!!!! From the line (and I could get only 1/2 of it in the picture) time getting to 13R threshold was about 45min to 1 Hr!!! |

That's Siberia ! We fly westbound to Europe, 68 degrees north latitude, 1 p.m. local time. One of few southbound flights in the area, originating from the polar region, crosses our route perpendicularly, 20 miles ahead of us, 1.000 meters below. They are getting a very fast early afternoon sunrise. We enjoyed during several hours the wonderful colours of sunset, before the sun rose again over Finland. Simply magic ! |
