N70529 (cn 49921/1752) Ship 529 waits for the ramp to reopen after the lightening subsides. This was a spectacular storm and I only went out to shoot pictures after about 30 minutes of nearly continuous lightening. Really a treat to watch, but not very conducive to a smooth operation. If anyone wonders why the ramp closes when lightening is in the area this should be explanation enough. This strike was just outside the perimeter fence but this storm produced hundreds of strikes within the fence, according to the detector equip. |

The runways are 750 ft apart, so there is still plenty of room between them. Incidentally, Lufthansa 455 is seen here returning to SFO due to an oil leak and eventual shutdown of the number 2 engine. 20 miles to the airport, an absorbed-in-other-things stork struck this aircraft causing what you can see here. It didn't affect navigation, so they landed smoothly. Radar was the only thing they lost. It remained unuseful. Birds are not so cute as they try to appear...[aircraft ID withheld on request of photographer, Ed.]. |

G-BOAE (cn 212) How lucky can you get. All week Concorde was running late with arrivals/departures only after sunset. Today she was right on time, but the weather was lousy all day. However just as she came on short final, the sun came out setting her in beautiful evening light . . . WOW! Canon 10D, 100-400L @ 400mm [+50% digital crop], handheld 1/100, f/8.0; IS is a great thing on big glass! |

MM54552 / 10 (cn 6773/168/AD019) Frecce Tricolori. I tried to follow the group from left to the right. When the oposite group came in view I took the picture and this is what it became. The solo pilot tried to avoid a crash against the control tower by pulling over the two groups. Instead he crashed into them. |

JA8081 (cn 25064/851) I've seen the Space Shuttle take-off and I've seen plenty of topless women in SXM but nothing comes close to a 747 coming directly in your direction just a few hundred feet below you! This was really amazing. It's a real air-to-air picture, no discussions please! |
