An old drug runners paradise, Norman's cay. Pablo Escobar used this island as a half way point to smuggle cocaine into the United States, around the island you can find planes ditched into the ocean and the pine trees. Now Norman's Cay has been cleaned up and is a great spot to go and lie on the beach. The runway is still wet from an earlier rain shower and in terrible condition with many potholes and cracks in it. A Bahamian version of my Cedar Key overview. |

83-23847 (cn 70-0672) "Junk Yard Dog" on a ferry flight to the 1106th AVCRAD for a rebuild. Back in the early 80s, Sikorsky used NASA-designed Kapton wiring for their aircraft, which while great for spaceships, was not so hot for a bird looking foreward to 25 years of hard service, hence 847 is running in to a lot of electrical gremlins. Now the ole sweetheart is looking foreward to new wiring, new engines, and rebuilt everything and a transfer out of active duty to a stateside national guard unit... good luck to her. 20D, 1/125th, F16, ISO100, Canon 28-135 @ 135mm. |

156 white (cn 2960905556) Tailstrike!! One of the stars of this years RIAT, at the end of Sunday's display the pilot put the aircraft down hard and it bounced in the air before touching down again. It was only when looking at my shots later on I realised that the jetpipes had touched the runway, creating a shower of sparks. It can only have happened for a split second, as nobody nearby seemed to notice it either! |
