G-ARVA (cn 804) It was the first production VC10 and the first to go into service with BOAC. Then, in June 1969, G-ARVA was bought by Nigeria Airways and registered as 5N-ABD. This aircraft was sadly lost when it crashed north of Lagos during a bad weather approach on 20 November 1969. 87 fatalities / 87 on board. |

PH-BFR / FR-035 (cn 27202/1014) "KL868 execute missed approach". I was watching a NWA DC-10 landing and I saw a KLM 747 close behind it. I was already thinking hmm not a lot of clearance. When the DC-10 landed I was already tracking the 747 and when I saw her come overhead I noticed the DC-10 still had not vacated the runway! Shortly after I heard the KLM give full throttle commencing its missed approach. Spectacular to see how fast it can climb! You can clearly see the DC-10 still on the runway.
