Qantas was on a systemwide shutdown by the management that weekend. Six Qantas planes (2 x A330, 3x B744 and 1x A380) were on the ground in the morning. Two more 744s later joined making a total of eight Qantas fleet in LAX. [Nikon D300] |

Taken from G-EUXL operating BA1477 from GLA to LHR. Due to extremely strong winds aircraft on the ground at Heathrow were only able to taxy with extreme caution resulting in a backlog for departures and causing delays through the whole system. Normally arriving from Glasgow we would have entered the Bovingdon hold but ATC sent us instead across to the Biggin Hill stack giving this rare chance for me to get a low level overview shot of the field. |
