Spectacular view of the Venice Lido airport while circling at 1.000ft, waiting to get our clearence to pass the runway extension of the close and more busy Venice Tessera airport. Built in 1909 was used mainly by military bombers during WWI and WWII. It then served as civil airport until the mid '50 when all the traffic moved to the near Tessera airport. The beauty of Venice and its lagoon fits perfectly as background. |

It is currently just over 90% complete and should replace the current airport just 5km away on the 12/12/12, almost 4 years later than planned. Its main runway is 4,850m (15,910 ft) long, making it one of the longest in the world and when fully complete the airport will be able to handle six Airbus A380s simultaneously. The paradise where a thousand years holidays here is never too long for aircraft spotter! On board of KL785 departing from SXM to AMS via CUR. A sharp turn after taking off from runway 10, now the entire Simpson Bay is visible from starboard. Three jetways are vacant to wait afternoon American arrivals and a bit cloud is casting a shadow on 28 end of runway. Two yacht are approaching to Simpson bridge and the Simpson Lagoon is in a peace afternoon. Right above the Maho Beach is Mullet Bay Pond beyond which is French territory. |

9N-AJH (cn 8198) Welcome to Lukla, Tenzing-Hillary Airport, Nepal situated at 9,100 feet above sea level. This is also the World's Most Dangerous Airport. Accident happened frequently with a downhill sloping runway (12% gradient) make things very interesting. Aircraft use runway 06 only for landings and runway 24 for takeoffs. Due to the terrain, there is no prospect of a successful go-around on short final. One word: Spectacular! [Nikon D300] |

This small, abandoned airfield sits on the northeast corner of Oahu—and it sure has a rich history. It was built in 1917 as the Waimanalo Military Reservation and was renamed as Bellows Field in 1933. This was an important airbase during World War II as an additional set of runways were built, giving the twin airfields a total of five combined runways. Closed in 1958 and renamed to Bellows Air Force Station in 1968, this airfield has since become a popular recreational campsite and weekend getaway, especially with the lovely beaches and scenery Oahu's windward coast has to offer. |
