We had been sitting in the departure line waiting our turn to go when I was rewarded with this line up shot. N509UA (cn 24763/284) With LH 744 D-ABVE. The two planes appear to be touching! The 757 is on final for 28L while the 747 is for 28R. The runways are 750 ft apart, so there is still plenty of room between them. Incidentally, Lufthansa 455 is seen here returning to SFO due to an oil leak and eventual shutdown of the number 2 engine. Note rudder is deflected to the right compensating for the failed engine on the left side. |

N70529 (cn 49921/1752) Ship 529 waits for the ramp to reopen after the lightening subsides. This was a spectacular storm and I only went out to shoot pictures after about 30 minutes of nearly continuous lightening. Really a treat to watch, but not very conducive to a smooth operation. If anyone wonders why the ramp closes when lightening is in the area this should be explanation enough. This strike was just outside the perimeter fence but this storm produced hundreds of strikes within the fence, according to the detector equip. |

As the lake is completely frozen during winter, the owner put his lovely airplane onto the lakeside which gave me this unique perspective. Low winter sun is rising just behind the airplane whereas the snow helps the shadow to brighten up. This is a full 12mm view which I think it is something interesting to show. Bright yellow color of this airplane gives this image a final touch. |

For me, the imagination allows me to think that the high wing of Cessna 172 looks like a mast of sailboat. In a reality, our 172 is now flying over the Knik Glacier when the sun is about to set. Our friend former JSDF F-15 Commander Yuguchi brought my family to this sightseeing flight. He is now flying as a bush pilot with his Husky based Merrill Field. I am looking forward to fly with him this summer. |

OV-103 (cn OV-103) Many journalists and photographers flock in front of the Launch Pad 39B to watch the service structure roll away from Discovery at 11:00 pm on July 12. It was truly a stunning moment when everyone was anxiously waiting for. As the initial launch attempt in the following day had been scrubbed because the fuel sensor in the external tank did not work properly, it finally had launched on July 26 -- the first Space Shuttle mission since Columbia's disaster 2 1/2 years ago which left the entire fleet grounded. |

As this was the last day/event of the fiesta called 'Mass Ascension,' due to the shower passed through the area at the break of dawn, most of special shape balloons have canceled the flight.
