N423RS / JV928/Y (cn 1785) We were privileged to fly in formation with this beautiful aircraft following years of restoration work at Lee-on-Solent. Captured over Portsmouth's Spinnaker Tower on its delivery flight to North Weald. The livery and registration JV928 represent the aircraft in which John Cruickshank VC so bravely earnt his Victoria Cross. |

JX273 / F On the night of 12May1944 this Catalina of 302 FTU, 17 (Training) Group, Coastal Command, on a training flight from Oban with a full load of depth charges, crashed on high ground on the Hebridean island of Vatersay following a compass failure. 3 of the 9 crew were killed. Recovery crews dragged the wreckage down the hill and took much of it away but amazingly, some of it is still there. JX273 was a Mk1b built in 1943 by Boeing in Vancouver. |
