OV-105 (cn OV-105) Launch of Space Shuttle Endeavour from Pad 39B on mission STS-97. This is a five minute exposure taken from the Causeway (about 7 miles away from the pad). Taken with a borrowed all-manual Nikomat camera, 24 mm lens, f/16, Kodak Royal Gold 100 film. When the exposure was stopped in this shot, the shuttle was approximately 229 statute miles downrange. |

This shot gives you a good idea of a pilot's eye view whilst dive bombing in to a very short Rwy 10 for landing. The famous 'hill' which you can just about see in the bottom of the photo is what makes this approach such an exciting and insane experience for both passengers and photographers when visiting this beautiful island by air. |

We had been flying the same North Atlantic Track for hours, same ground speed, 1000 feet above, 10NM behind. Just as contrail and sunset light became simultaneously good for picturing, they made an unexpected route offset, maybe to avoid a wake turbulence. Thanks guys ! |
