PH-MCS / CS-503 (cn 48618/584) Just when I thought I had seen everything when it comes to condensation in July last year on a KLM MD-11, this Martinair MD-11 comes along and made me rethink what I knew. The vortices on this thing are way beyond and are the very best the MD-11 can produce! Strangely enough the other MD-11s that morning didn't produce nearly as much. |

Due to bad weather on the previous days, there were a total of 42 flights on this day! Of interest: only pilots with over 7 years' experience are allowed to land here! |

9th July 2006 - FIFA World Cup™ Final 2006 in Berlin. You see a part(!) of the apron full with Bizzjets and Props. I have counted 194 jets, 50 props and 3 airliners so far. It was a spectacular and very busy day (round about 900 movements) for this historic airport in the middle of Berlin. By the way: Italy won after a penalty showdown... (Canon 20D @ 17mm) |

OV-103 (cn OV-103) If you were an astronaut and were going to climb aboard the shuttle, the round hatch is the entry way. So this is how you enter the $2.4 billion dollar (list price) machine. The White blankets (seen here) coating the aircraft are made of coated Nomex felt reusable surface insulation. They are used on the upper payload bay doors, portions of the midfuselage and aft fuselage sides, portions of the upper wing surface and a portion of the OMS/RCS pods for heat exclusion. This outbound flight gave us a whole view of San Francisco International when we departed from Runway 1 Left heading for Los Angeles as UA886. You can easily observe the entire movement of this large airport with some heavies are about to head for Far East and Asia. DHL B767 in the cargo lamp and Korean Air B747 in the terminal really stand out among others. Company's 'color' must be an important identity in such way. |
