N509UA (cn 24763/284) With LH 744 D-ABVE. The two planes appear to be touching! The 757 is on final for 28L while the 747 is for 28R. The runways are 750 ft apart, so there is still plenty of room between them. Incidentally, Lufthansa 455 is seen here returning to SFO due to an oil leak and eventual shutdown of the number 2 engine. Note rudder is deflected to the right compensating for the failed engine on the left side. |

VP-CBX (cn 511) By now you all probably know that the approach into Samedan is an amazing one, but this Gulf just beats what I've seen so far. Thanks to quite some crosswind it seems like he is heading in my direction which results in the ability to get a beautiful head-on shot of this Bizjet. This is a full colour photo and not manipulated at all. The sun was directly in line with the airplane approaching, that's why this fuselage is shadowed too, and thanks to the bright snow from below the full plane is lit perfectly, while the scenery is severely underexposed. Dedicated to f/o James C. |

N80FA (cn 10273/7) Working at Southend Airport in the 'Seventies produced some great opportunities. Just before N80FA departed on its ferry flight to Texas, I was able to fix up an air-to-air session from Cessna 172 G-ATLN. We flew as fast as possible, the Carvair as slow as it could with everything down. I can still hear those P&Ws roaring over the sound of my open window and the general racket in the Cessna. I even sold my car to one of the Falcon directors who duly loaded and flew home to the States with it - truly Car-via-air as Freddie Laker originally intended. This aircraft crashed in Alaska in 1997 as N103; another of the few remaining Carvairs suffered a similar fate up there in May 2007, so now only two survive. |

OV-103 (cn OV-103) Many journalists and photographers flock in front of the Launch Pad 39B to watch the service structure roll away from Discovery at 11:00 pm on July 12. It was truly a stunning moment when everyone was anxiously waiting for. As the initial launch attempt in the following day had been scrubbed because the fuel sensor in the external tank did not work properly, it finally had launched on July 26 -- the first Space Shuttle mission since Columbia's disaster 2 1/2 years ago which left the entire fleet grounded. |

JA8985 (cn 27652/72) Approaching to perform another set of touch and go during the training flight. We had just passed through the rainy season, which gave us an incredible view of the coral reflection. Those clouds were also affected by the coral reflection. Isn't that amazing? Today, the more flight simulator has been introduced, the more difficult to find a training flight under that perfect scenery. I will be appreciated if you use this photo for your desktop. |

9H-AEH (cn 2122) The little Airbus, seen ahead of the mighty 744s of BA, (G-BNLI and G-BNLM), heads in a completely different direction to that of the runway! As can be seen by the other aircraft there's an obvious sidewind component today to deal with. The Air Malta has left behind an enormous wake as can be seen in the cloud behind it. Spectacular effect to capture and witness. |
