France, December 21, 1999
Remark
Photographer
F-BTSC (cn 203) Investigations tend to prove that the culprit of the disaster on July 25, 2000, could be an alien piece of metal which made the tyres burst and broke the deflector just in front of the wheels, and not the engine as once considered. It seems British Airways installed stronger deflectors, do they actually look very different?

Remark
Photographer
G-BOAC (cn 204) Late afternoon arrival of Concorde as BA002. After she landed, several other airplanes had to perform a go-around due to a deflated tyre on G-BOAC, while the runway was being checked and cleaned for debris. Only when looking at the photo's at home, I found out that its RH front tyre on the right main landing gear was already deflated and deformed on approach! Looks like the new Michelin NZG tyre performed as advertised and did not blow catastrophically. Photo 2 of 4.

However just as she came on short final, the sun came out setting her in beautiful evening light . . . WOW! Canon 10D, 100-400L @ 400mm [+50% digital crop], handheld 1/100, f/8.0; IS is a great thing on big glass!

G-N94AE (cn 212) In January 1979 Braniff commenced sub-sonic Concorde flights from Washington Dulles to Dallas Fort Worth. Due to FAA regulation requiring domestic flights to carry N marking the Concordes were re-registered in this non-standard, dual-nationality series with the G covered for the US internal flight. This aircraft reverted to being G-BOAE at the cessation of the service in June 1980. It is now preserved in Barbados

F-BTSD (cn 213) I flew on this Concorde a year later on a supersonic flight from Paris to Manchester. On this particular day the aircraft was delayed for departure as the fire service attended to deal with a leakage of fuel onto the apron. The aircraft shut down on the taxiway for a while until the matter was resolved.Eventually the aircraft was given the all clear to continue its supersonic charter.
