Canada - Air Force
Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow
Ottawa - Rockcliffe (YRO / CYRO)
Canada - Ontario, August 2000
Remark
Photographer
25206 (cn 206) Built 1957. The Arrow was the most advanced fighter of its time and could have jeopardized the sales of US fighters to foreign countries. Unexplained circumstances compelled the Canadian government to give up the project (likely due to US pressure). The few Arrows that were built were dismantled and only the nose of 206 is preserved in the National Aviation Museum

USA - Air Force
General Dynamics F-16C Fighting Falcon (401)
Off-Airport - Chicago
USA - Illinois, August 20, 2005
Remark
Photographer
**-**** USAF Thunderbirds had a mishap during Saturday's performance at the Chicago Air and Water Show. This shot captures the right missile rail of the rear F-16D touching the left horizontal stabilizer of the F-16C on the right hand corner of the diamond formation. The missile rail broke off seconds later, falling safely into Lake Michigan. Wish I got that shot...

Remark

***** A Hawker 800 (I think) is seen on final approach to Boston's Runway27 as a big moon (already past its fullness) rises.

Aerospatiale-BAC Concorde 102
London - Heathrow (LHR / EGLL)
UK - England, October 10, 2003
Remark
Photographer
G-BOAE (cn 212) How lucky can you get. All week Concorde was running late with arrivals/departures only after sunset. Today she was right on time, but the weather was lousy all day. However just as she came on short final, the sun came out setting her in beautiful evening light . . . WOW! Canon 10D, 100-400L @ 400mm [+50% digital crop], handheld 1/100, f/8.0; IS is a great thing on big glass!

USA - Navy
Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet
Virginia Beach - Oceana NAS / Apollo Soucek Field (NTU / KNTU)
USA - Virginia, September 25, 2004
Remark
Photographer
166611 / AA-320 (cn F104) The Super Hornet approaches the sound barrier. Due to the high humidity at Oceana the effect of the Prantl-Glauert cloud becomes clearly visible. This is a shockwave where the section with the clowd has low pressure, the above section is of high air pressure.
