9th July 2006 - FIFA World Cup™ Final 2006 in Berlin. You see a part(!) of the apron full with Bizzjets and Props. I have counted 194 jets, 50 props and 3 airliners so far. Flying in the mountains gave me a ton of photo oppertunities. This is possibly the coolest, located at the top of a mountain near Asheville the airport elevation is 4,400 feet and the tallest part of the mountain was 6,000 feet. You need permission to land there but it looks like there is a nice resort and golf course next to it. Notice the vibrant colours of the leaves as they start to turn. |

An old drug runners paradise, Norman's cay. Pablo Escobar used this island as a half way point to smuggle cocaine into the United States, around the island you can find planes ditched into the ocean and the pine trees. Now Norman's Cay has been cleaned up and is a great spot to go and lie on the beach. The runway is still wet from an earlier rain shower and in terrible condition with many potholes and cracks in it. A Bahamian version of my Cedar Key overview. |

On parking 1 is Agni Air 9N-AHE, parking 2 you can see Sita Air 9N-AHA. And just the shadow of the wingtip can be seen from Yeti Airlines 9N-AFE. |

Volcano Day, might be the words we could find in history book in a few years when they speak about his day. Frankfurt Airspace closed 8AM CEST, so no more landings or take-offs. You see several Lufthansa planes parked at hard stands. Almost none at the gates at the Terminals, just a few here and there. If standing on the runway you could hear birds whispering and no APU's at all. What an amazing day. On the most left is the new so called "cruise ship", the new Hotel complex onto of the Rail Center. |

Founded at 1910 'Khodynka' was the major national airport at 30-40s. Later it was test airfield for many Russian planes (first flights of Il-76, Il-86 etc.). The last take off was made at 03.07.2003 (Il-38). Nowdays is closed. You may see the runway (with number of museum's planes on the left) and parts of apron. |

Exactly 555 days after the airport Berlin-Tempelhof was closed the former "Zentralflughafen" was opened to the public as "Tempelhof Park". You can walk, ride by bike or skate on both runways and all taxiways. Some spaces are reserved for birds and also three dog runs are surrounded by fences. So far you could use two areas for barbecue. The runway centerline lighting system was removed to prevent the roller skaters from tumbling |
