G-BOAE (cn 212) How lucky can you get. All week Concorde was running late with arrivals/departures only after sunset. Today she was right on time, but the weather was lousy all day. However just as she came on short final, the sun came out setting her in beautiful evening light . . . WOW! Canon 10D, 100-400L @ 400mm [+50% digital crop], handheld 1/100, f/8.0; IS is a great thing on big glass! |

F-BTSD (cn 213) As I upload this she is in flight for about an hour already. The most difficult part was watching her turn after taking the photos, just standing there, watching with a heavy heart. 15 years i've been photographing this machine, today was difficult. Atleast BA is still around for a little while longer |

G-BOAC (cn 204) Late afternoon arrival of Concorde as BA002. After she landed, several other airplanes had to perform a go-around due to a deflated tyre on G-BOAC, while the runway was being checked and cleaned for debris. Only when looking at the photo's at home, I found out that its RH front tyre on the right main landing gear was already deflated and deformed on approach! Looks like the new Michelin NZG tyre performed as advertised and did not blow catastrophically. Photo 1 of 4. |

G-BOAF (cn 216) IT'S OVER.....as chief Concorde pilot Mike Bannister said "from today, the world is a bigger place", the last flying icon of British and French design touches down at Filton ending 34 years of Concorde operations. As Concorde is powered by four Rolls-Royce/SNECMA Olympus 593 engines, it's fitting that the Rolls-Royce Defence Aerospace factory clearly stands out in the background. |

I do not want to crop the Chrysler Building as it is one of the symbols for Midtown Manhattan, which is now half blurred out by the heat exhaust. As I did not have a digital-SLR when this photograph was taken, film-SLR with 600mm prime lens could only achieve this perspective. This photograph was taken from the Bayswater Point State Park being located at the Mott Ave. and Jamaica Bay |
