Mojave (MHV)
USA - California, November 10, 2003
Remark
Photographer
N707GE (cn 17608/122) This was the last coal-burning 707 flying in the USA, now sadly condemned to the scrap heap. Built in 1960, she started out with Pan Am as "Clipper Bald Eagle". She was special to me because she was a former Donaldson and British Midland bird (G-AYXR), and I saw her many times in the colours of airlines like Syrianair, Tunisair, Kuwait Airways and PIA. She was also the first 707 I went on board, during a school tour to East Midlands Airport many years ago

Remark
Photographer
G-AYXR (cn 17608/122) X-Ray Romeo lays dormant on one of Gatwick's remote stands with little work in prospect. The airline ceased operations seven weeks later and the aircraft returned to the USA, eventually finding new life as an engine test bed with GE.
