VH-VHD (cn 1999) The DEWR Australian Antarctic Division's personnel transport was built in 2003 and made its first flight on 10 July using the Airbus flight-test reg D-AVYQ. It was delivered to CIT Leasing to be operated by Air France on 22 January 2004. In 2007 it was acquired by the Australian Government for operation to the new blue ice runway at Casey Station. It was registered VH-VHD on 16 February and delivered two days later, to be operated by Skytraders. |

VH-VHD (cn 1999) Australian Antarctic Division Long Range A319 VH-VHD airborne off Rwy 35 at Canberra Airport. This former 'all-white' Airbus now has an Orange Stripe, and the fuselage has been painted light Grey. The aircraft blends well with the cloud background. The aircraft will be used to transport personnel and equipment to Australia's Casey Base in the Antarctic. This aircraft was formerly F-GYAS, operated by 'Aero Services' in Air France colours on the Paris-Malabo route. Thanks to Torrado in Lisbon for that info. |
