N8790R (cn 20240/717) Flight 505 crashed during landing at the Harry S. Truman Airport (STT) on Dec 28, 1970. Two fatalities resulting in the only fatal accident for domestic US carrier in the year 1970 (would have been first nonfatal accident year). 48 passengers and 7 crew members were on board. At that time STT runway was 4.650 ft.

N8790R (cn 20240/717) Aircraft first touchdown and bounced appoximately 50 feet in the air, the second touchdown occured 1500 feet from the threshold and bounced 15-30 feet, third and final touchdown occured 2,700 feet from threshold (runway lenght at that time is 4,650 feet) were right wing tip settled and dragged along the runway. Captain called go-around but aircraft veered to the right and ssttled against the hill. Fire was not inmediate but took a couple of minutes to get started.
