4X-AXG (cn 21737/362) Special photo, because it was taken 10 weeks before it crashed on Amsterdam. On october 4, 1992 this aircraft took off from runway 01L as 'El Al 1862' to fly from Amsterdam to Tel-Aviv. At 06.26 pm local time engine 3 broke off the wing, and also took engine 4 off the wing due to the explosion. The pilots tried to return to Schiphol after their 'mayday' call. But they didn't make it and at 06.35 pm this aircraft crashed into 2 flats in the Bijlmer in Amsterdam. |
