N1298E (cn 22379/491) "Indus". KLM 601 heavy from AMS is seen rolling out runway 24L with thrust reversers deployed and spoilers up. First flight was November 6, 1980. Delivery date was December 15, 1980. Built as 747-206B, cvt'd to 747-206B(SUD) during mid 1980's. Other serials - N729SA with Southern Air and CF6-50 Llc, N1298E with SPA Incorporated, and reserialed from N1298E to PH-BUR with KLM during February 1991. Stored at MHV during June 2003. |

PH-BUR (cn 22379/491) Up close and personal with a plane that still is awe inspiring when viewed up close...and this is just a -200 version! I still can't get over just how big the 747 is when viewed up close, and this photo just doesn't do it justice! This KLM 747 sits calmly in the desert only to be fussed with every now and then by the constant winds at Mojave. Though not in service, she's still a beauty and will hopefully take to the skies someday soon! |
