N95SW (cn 23054/969) The retirement party was all over and it was almost time for N95SW to retire to the hangar to have her "Southwest" logo painted over. After her final passenger flight, which consisted of 95 employees that won a system-wide drawing for their tickets and her original flight crew from 1983, N95SW sits quietly on the MX ramp, nose-to-nose with N495SW. This aircraft has an incredible history and helped to bring Southwest Airlines to where it is today. (Canon 300D / 28-135mm IS) |

N95SW (cn 23054/969) N95SW sits quietly on the ramp overlooking the party held for her retirement. Herb was at the podium at the time of this photo and would soon be met with balloons from the ceiling and thousands of cheers... Over 1000 SWA employees and friends attended the pre-dawn event on this cold winter morning - most of which were in their pajamas. If you know anything about SWA, that shouldn't surprise you. N95SW (cn 23054/969) Southwest ship 495 (delivered 1/2/05) and ship 95 (delivered 5/25/83) sit quietly on the ramp in front of the retirement party for the 737-200 series aircraft from the WN fleet. 95 lucky employees won tickets to fly on the last passenger flight of a Southwest 732, which included a pillow fight and a fly-by of Love Field before landing and taxiing to the party. Herb can be seen on stage in the center of the crowd reading his speech about the history of the 732 with Southwest. They will certainly be missed. (Canon 300D / 18-55mm) |

N95SW (cn 23054/969) After an hour flight to the Waco area and back and a fly-by of Love Field, Southwest ship 95 sits with engines running on the ramp awaiting her taxi into position in front of the television cameras at 8am. Onboard are 95 lucky employees and the original pilots and flight attendants that flew this bird on her first revenue flight on 5/26/83. Although it started in the dark and was freezing outside, Southwest certainly went all-out for the retirement party for their old 737-200s. [Canon 300D / 75-300mm IS] |
