63-7460 (cn 439) Photographed taking off from runway 20 and still in the original pantscheme of the 57th FIS Phantoms. In another photo from September it has been painted with the new full tail checkers that the Black Knights introduced before their trip to the 1976 William Tell competition. If I remember correctly, 460 was the first F-4C to get the new tail finish.

63-7460 (cn 439) Parked beside one of the four shelters built on the 57th FIS flightline to house the F-4Cs when they arrived. Unusually it does not have the underwing tanks attached. 460 arrived in Iceland on June 6, 1973 from the 58 TFW. It took part in the first F-4C Bear intercept three days later, on June 9, 1973. It was transferred to the Air Defence Weapons Center (ADWC) on May 2, 1978.
