LN-MOU (cn 45923/383) "Leif Viking" seen taxing in after arriving and using the full length of the 2200m runway 06. Delivered new 16.06.1968 as 1st of 6 DC-8-63s ordered by SAS, configured with 194 seats and 3 widescreens for inflight movies, which was quite new those days. Aircraft sold as HS-TGX 22.03.1974, later OY-SBK in 1984, and from 28.10.1986 to 07.03.1989 back to Scanair as "Nora Viking". Sold as N794AL 04.04.1989, Crashed 15.02.1992 on approach to Toledo, Ohio, in fog while flying for Burlington Air Express. |

Built as DC-8-63, cvt'd to DC-8-63(F) freighter in July 1990. Other serials - HS-TGX with Thai Airways Intl and Icelandair, LN-MOU with SAS - Scandinavian Airline System, OY-SBK with Sterling and SAS, and also N794AL with TransOcean Airways and Air Transport Intl. Sadly, W/O February 15, 1992 with Burlington Air Express as N794AL at Swanton, Ohio on approach to TOL. |
