Scandinavian Airlines - SAS
McDonnell Douglas MD-81 (DC-9-81)
Off-Airport - Stavsborg
Sweden, December 10, 2006
Remark
Photographer
OY-KHO (cn 53003/1844) This is what's left of the cockpit of "Dana Viking", fading away on a scrapyard. December 27, 1991 "Dana Viking" takes off from Arlanda as flight 751 and only 4 minutes later it crashes into a field (location, Gottrora). The crash occured due to ice on the wings which came loose and made engine failure on both engines. The aircraft went into three pieces but all 129 onboard survived thanks to a magnificent work on flight deck from Capt. Stefan Rasmussen and F/O Ulf Cedermark. Great luck helped too.

McDonnell Douglas MD-81 (DC-9-81)
Aalborg (AAL / EKYT)
Denmark, August 17, 1991
Remark
Photographer
OY-KHO (cn 53003/1844) "Dana Viking". Not shown for its visual art, but it is the only picture I have of this ill-fated aircraft. It turned into a glider with double engine failure shortly after take-off from Stockholm-Arlanda (ESSA) on December 27, 1991. Alhough it happened in low low clouds, the pilot managed to "land" on a small field in a wooded landscape, and all the passengers survived. "Dana Viking" broke in 3 parts and was a write-off.

Dusseldorf - International (Rhein-Ruhr / Lohausen) (DUS / EDDL)
Germany, June 1, 1991
Remark
Photographer
OY-KHO (cn 53003/1844) Crashed six months later on December 27, 1991, after takeoff from Stockholm when both engines surged due to icing problems. The pilot was able to bring down the aircraft in a field where it broke up in three parts. Luckily there were no fatalities.
