Untitled
De Havilland DH-87B Hornet Moth
Griffith (GFF / YGTH)
Australia - New South Wales, April 23, 2010
Remark
Photographer
VH-UXY (cn 8131) This shot clearly shows the square wingtips of the 'B' model Hornet Moth. This lovely aircraft was added to the UK Register pre-war as G-AEZG but was impressed into the RAF during the war as BK830. A survivor, it resumed its identity as G-AEZG until being exported to Australia where it became VH-UXY(2) on 27 July 1979.

Untitled
De Havilland DH-87B Hornet Moth
Swan Hill (SWH / YSWH)
Australia - Victoria, April 24, 2005
Remark
Photographer
VH-UXY (cn 8131) Despite appearances, this is not the orignal VH-UXY which was an Airspeed Envoy belonging to Charles Ulm and lost at sea near Hawaii in 1934. This aircraft is the more common 'B' model of the Hornet Moth with square wing-tips and was built in the UK in 1937. It was imported to Australia in 1979 and took up this 'period' registration.
