Untitled
Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress (299P)
London - Luton (LTN / EGGW)
UK - England, May 10, 1987
Remark
Photographer
G-FORT (cn 8627) This Lockheed-Vega built Flying Fortress was previously registered to Institut Géographique National as F-BEEC for photographic survey work. Seen here in yellow primer prior to being painted to represent 42-38050 BN-U "Thunderbird". Painting was to be carried out at Luton by HPB Aviation a facility within the McAlpine hangar, however due to over booking the respray was carried out at Southend. Registered as N900RW in July 1987 and ferried Texas for the Lone Star Flight Museum.

Untitled
Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress (299P)
Reykjavik (RKV / BIRK)
Iceland, July 14, 1987
Remark
Photographer
N900RW / 238050/BN-U/C2 (cn 8627) "Thunder Bird" arrived in Reykjavik at 10:11 hrs this date from EGPK (Prestwick), departed at 12:21 hrs for BGBW ("Bluie West One" ~ Narsarsuaq), enroute to USA. Here the crew is checking for leaks whilst customs were cleared, but before taking on fuel. The route it flew was typical of much WW2 ferrying (but more went the other way never to return). Sorry for partly overcast skies but fortunately it was not raining.
