Untitled
Polikarpov Po-2
Everett - Snohomish County / Paine Field (PAE / KPAE)
USA - Washington, May 30, 2013
Remark
Photographer
NX46GU / 23 (cn 641543) "Flying Heritage Collection" Along with the Il-2, the Po-2 is the most produced military aircraft of all time. This one is painted in the colors of the female 46th Guards Regiment in which female pilots, called "the Night Witches", performed night missions over German camps under most perilous conditions. They approached the camps, then cut their engines to float quietly above and dropped their light bombs then started the engine again to escape, hopefully unharmed. [Nikon D700 / AF-S Nikkor 16-35mm]
