G-SIJJ / 472035 (cn 122-31894) Peter Teichman makes as magnificent an arrival as is possible to the Great Vintage Flying Weekend. His Mustang was built in 1944 and served with the 332nd Fighter Group (the Red Tails) which comprised African American pilots and served in Italy during 1945. It has never been restored and is one of the most original still in existence. It is based at North Wield as part of his Hangar 11 Collection, which also includes a P-40, a Hurrricane IIb and a Spitfire PRXI. |

G-SIJJ / 472035 (cn 122-31894) Kemble Air Day – Peter Teichman side-slips in to conclude another fabulous display by one of the finest-looking aeroplanes in history, the 27-litre overhead cam, supercharged, four-valve-head, unsilenced 60-degree V-12 sounding glorious. This Mustang was previously registered F-AZMU. Built in 1944, it had flown only 1818 hours as of December 2006. (400D; Sigma 80-400@250mm; fluid-head tripod; 100th sec exposure; stabilization switched off) |
