G-YAKN / 66 (cn 855905) These Yaks are part of the Abbas-based Yakovlevs display team. The Yak-52 first flew in 1976 and was designed as an aerobatic trainer for students in the Soviet DOSAAF training organisation, which trained both civilian sport pilots and military pilots. Of the 1800 built, most have now been exported to the West. YAKN served with the Russian Air Force before import to the UK in 2004. An unusual feature is its extensive use of pneumatics rather than hydraulics. |
