N131FF / 81 (cn 182-3138) Built in 1956 this Hercules was used as an Air Tanker to fight Forest Fires in the 1990's but was bought by International Air Response in 2006, it was not in an Airworthy Flying condition when we visited but the intention was to get it Flying again. |

A89-281 / 81 (cn 726-7281) 10 SQN RAAF was to cease Neptune operations at RAAF Base Townsville on 30Jun77. Two practice 'three-aircraft' formation sorties were programmed prior to that day. The lead aircraft, A89-281, starts up with clouds of smoke from its Wright Cyclone engines. A89-281 was the last Neptune acquired by the RAAF, Delivered in May 1962. Low-res photo. A97-181 / 81 (cn 382-4181) No 37 Squadron C-130E A97-181 Hercules on the tarmac at Port Hedland after sunset, following a 1.2 hour flight from Mt Newman. The Herc Crew saw me taking photos and went back to align the propellers for me. (The RAAF Staff College 'Exercise Norward' circum-navigation of Australia took 27.0 flying hours). Low res photo.
