Untitled
De Havilland DHC-1 Chipmunk Mk22
Halton (EGWN)
UK - England, June 15, 2008
Remark
Photographer
G-BCGC / WP903 (cn C1/0076) This aircraft is the one in which HRH Prince Charles learned to fly in the 1970s and it still carries his livery, that of the Royal Flight at the time. It is seen here at the De Havilland Moth Club charity flying day in a demonstration of Barnstorming. The pilot has his arm out about to throw an egg. Children were invited to write their names on the eggs and if the egg survived the fall they were given to the child. Remarkably, a large number did survive !

Photographer
G-BCGC / WP903 (cn C1/0076) One of the members of Captain Neville s Flying Circus is seen here landing after a flour-bombing run during a marvellous display of crazy flying at the RAF Halton charity flying weekend. This Chipmunk is the one used by HRH Prince Charles during his flying training & bears the original red paint scheme and red flashing beacon above the windscreen; it is now owned by The Henlow Chipmunk Group. (400D; Sigma 80-400@281mm; fluid-head tripod; 80th sec exposure; stabilization switched off)
