The modest terminal of Bird Airport, named for Vere Bird, the first Prime Minister of Antigua. I have been coming here for 20 years. Since then, some terminal features such as the drop-off section have changed, but Paradise has stayed mostly the same. The Chinese are building a new international terminal to the North, however. Visible is the old West Indies Oil Company Refinery, which has stood dormant for 30 years since refining operations stopped in the early 80s (it still is an active holding terminal). Also visible are the movie theater and the new Epicurian, and the north part of St. John, the capital. In the background you can see the Cedar Valley Golf Club. [D7000 + 35 mm f/1.8G] |
