USA - Air Force
McDonnell RF-4C Phantom II
Birmingham - Shuttlesworth International (BHM / KBHM)
USA - Alabama, September 1987
Remark
Photographer
64-1047 / BH (cn 947) The rain-soaked surfaces around the 106th Tactical Recon. Sqn. (Alabama ANG) maintenance hangar attest to the severe thunderstorm that passed through. However, it turned out to be a nice day for my first visit to Birmingham airport for the 1987 show, and I enjoyed such displays as this "unbuttoned" Hill II Grays recce Phantom next to the hangar- the nose of the unit's C-131D support plane is visible in the left background.

Marietta - Dobbins ARB (Atlanta NAS) (MGE / KMGE)
USA - Georgia, September 1987
Remark
Photographer
735 (cn 382-5070) A brilliant afternoon brings out the handsome colors and markings of this C-130H at rest on the west Lockheed flight test line. This was the final aircraft of a batch of five (the other 4 were handed over much earlier)for the Republic of Singapore Air Force, and was due shortly for delivery to No.121 Sqn. at Changi. A new C-5B Galaxy in its factory applied Europe 1 camouflage may be seen in the left background.

Kaman SH-2F Seasprite (K-888)
Birmingham - Shuttlesworth International (BHM / KBHM)
USA - Alabama, September 1987
Remark
Photographer
151333 / HY-334 (cn 170) Resplendent in its hi-viz colors and markings, this SH-2 from HSL-36 Lamplighters (NS Mayport, FL) poses on the wet Alabama ANG ramp during the 1987 air show. The sqn. nickname derived from the original program that resulted in the anti-sub version of the Seasprite- LAMPS, or Light Airborne Multi-Purpose System.

USA - Navy
Grumman F-14A Tomcat (G-303)
Birmingham - Shuttlesworth International (BHM / KBHM)
USA - Alabama, September 1987
Remark
Photographer
162702 / AJ-201 (cn 548) A swashbuckling navy fighter with an unaccustomed "Constable landscape" pastoral background! The tree-covered hills around Birmingham airport do provide scenic surroundings as preparations are underway for the departure of this nearly new VF-84 Jolly Rogers Block 140 Tomcat at the end of the 1987 air show. It displays the typical delivery scheme of overall Gloss Gull Gray with colorful markings for this block of aircraft.

Untitled
Convair C-131...
Tucson - Davis-Monthan AFB (Municipal) (DMA / KDMA)
USA - Arizona, September 1987
Remark
Photographer
This bare metal C-131 was at Davis Monthan back in 1987, but it has no markings of any kind, and the research I've done to try to identify it has so far drawn a blank. So any help in identifying this aeroplane would be greatly appreciated.
