N9563Z / 297400/K/E (cn 32204) "Fuddy Duddy" sitting on the ramp at JWA. This B-17 remains in flying condition while based at Orange County. Every time it takes off, it creates a huge spectator event. When it's flying late afternoon along the shoreline, you can look towards the sun and see the silhouette of this warbird flying over the ocean and swear you are looking back in time. |

N627VA (cn 2851) Virgin was supposed to conduct noise abatement testing with the A320 the day before but the Santa Ana's were blowing so testing was cancelled. Luckily the winds let up for one day so Virgin and Airport Ops were quick to jump on the opportunity. Still warm though, in the 80's but a perfect day to complete the testing. On April 30th, Virgin will begin services out of JWA to SFO, SEA, BOS, JFK, and IAD. BOS, JFK, and IAD flights will be a stop over via SFO. |

Taken just after sunset on extremely clear night after a recent Santa Ana wind. High cirrus clouds give a nice halo effect to the full moon. A 737's light contrails can be seen during it's landing on this long exposure. American Eagle RJ is next to go to SJC and a UAL 737 will be departing shortly to SFO. |

N622AS (cn 30165/661) Nice day to pick your last flight especially if you are flying into Southern Calif. Captain Ward decided to pick Orange County as his last flight and gets the full water cannon salute. On behalf of the controllers at SNA, the Orange County Crash Crew, and Alaska Airlines, we congratulate you on your retirement flight. |
