58-6972 (cn 17927/47) This aircraft saw many years of service with the 89th Air Wing at Andrews AFB, Maryland. During its illustrious career, 972 carried Presidents, Vice-Presidents, First Ladies, and other high ranking government officials to worldwide destinations. Severe corrosion led to the demise of 972 sometime in 1996 at Boeing's facility at Wichita, Kansas. The aircraft was chopped up and scrapped, a fate far less deserving of her past record. |
