N86504 (cn 2025) Forty years after, and the largest piece left is this bit of cowling. Paradise Airlines 901A turned the wrong direction on a missed approach to KTVL in a snowstorm. It wound up on the side of this mountain killing all 85 on board, March 1, 1964. TVL airport visible at top left. |

N573US (cn 23560/1463) Patches! Check just forward of the 1R door. Doublers here, on both sides, and, less obvious in this view, along both sides above the cabin windows. Thousands of new rivets. Not just a clever paint scheme anymore. |

N1944M (cn 19394) End of an "ERA" this veteran DC-3 may have been one of the last two flying passengers on an Air Carrier certificate. Parked here in the desert because of the cost of installing a bulletproof cockpit door. This one reportedly flew at D-Day. It's for sale. |

63-13689 (cn 3) Two rare ones here. This is Buffalo prototype No.3 on the Test Board ramp being evaluated by the Army, which never bought the Buffalo. Three went to the USAF and this one to the Navy. In the background is a Caribou prototype YAC-1, 57-3079. The Caribou is now at the museum at Ft. Eustis VA. Note the 1st Cav patch and the Playboy bunny. |

(cn 002) Perhaps the smallest manned aircraft the Army ever operated. This rare example was used, tethered to a rolling platform, by students needing some hover practice. Note that the platform itself is tethered to the corner posts. Untethered, this was a real helicopter, not a gyrocopter. One like it once appeared in cigarette ads in the US. |
