An overview of Bembridge on the Isle of Wight. The airport is home to the aircraft manufacturer Britten-Norman, part of the B-N Group which operates the airport and their large buildings can be seen to the right. The gliding club operates from the grass to the left of and parallel to runway 30. This runway, 30/12 is the only hard paved one on the island. The image was taken from Beech 33 N35SN on a clockwise circuit of the island. |

G-AOVF (cn 13237) This former BOAC aircraft was part of the British Airways Collection. With the rest of the collection having been disposed of, this "Whispering Giant" was lucky to escape the scrapman's axe. It has since been repainted to represent XM497 (Royal Air Force) and is seen here looking resplendent against the dark clouds in a moment of sunshine between the rainstorms. |
