PH-KZP (cn 11539) De-icing at spot P7 in full swing. Fluid is stocked in those four tanks. Small waves of it run down the apron after each service, but are collected underground to protect the environment. |

N2872G / 124 Tanker 124 seems to be laying down like a big, tired animal. The Privateer, a Type II Tanker capable of carrying 2000 gallons of retardant, wants to fly but they won't let her. [F100, 70-200mm, Provia] |

N125HP / 135588/1P310 (cn 726-7035) The placement of a row of Neptunes in front of the Stratotanker line makes photographing a single one quite a challenge. For the record: I'm not complaining about the number of aircraft there! [Provia 100F, DiMage Scan] |

N5102B (cn 10152) Nosing for interesting angles I came eye to eye with these guys. I immediately remembered the two Packet sections in Anchorage in 1994. The Boxcar nose next to them turns out to be what's left of the very C-119 that kept them company in ANC. On the left is C-82A N8009E (10071) and on the right C-119L N90267 (257). [Velvia 50] |

150529 (cn 185-5055) A former top secret operations plane, now almost totally parted out. This sneaky Orion is held in place by cylinder rows chained to its mooring points. The background consists of a row of its predecessors: P-2 Neptunes. [Nikkor, Fujifilm, DiMage] |

N8505A / 076 (cn KF-179) Brought to Greybull by Hawkins and Powers more than a decade ago and still there. The large code on the nose goes back to the aircraft's first identity: 53-8076 with the California ANG at Hayward, until withdrawn from use in 1975. |

N497HP / 0-30265 (cn 17047) Nothing fancy here. The USAF serial was brutally painted over and the rudder clamped. Still, part of '0-30265' is readable which stands for 53-0265 and this is one of no less than seven Stratotankers at Greybull in July 2005. C-119G N3003/03 is in the background. N139HP / 139 (cn 726-7168) Two immaculate Neptunes in eye-catching colors at the Museum of Flight and Aerial Firefighting. Tanker 139 retained the long tail cone that used to house the MAD (Magnetic Anomaly Detection) sensors while Tanker 140 received a short version. There aren't too many of these compact cones and they all seem different in shape. [Nikon F100] |

N139HP / 139 (cn 726-7168) Together with N140HP / 140 (cn 7102). These beauties could not have looked better when H&P started operating them in 1990 after overhaul and modifications. Since their contract was cancelled in May 2004 they wait for another smoky start-up. To do that their remaining service life must be established which is a tough and costly operation. N15501 / H0180-H (cn 10955) On 8 December 2003 this actress left home for a lead role in the movie "Flight of the Phoenix". The trip would take her around the Atlantic Ocean, routing to Africa via the Canary Islands and returning in June 2004 via Brazil. She came back with fantasy registration H0180-H and 'XXExpress' titles and logo and still wears these. Parked in the Greybull museum but ready for duty, this bird is now for sale. [Velvia, F100] |

N173AM / 1P334 (cn 726-7129) Among many numbers on the nose is MASDC (now AMARC) code 1P334. Hawkins and Powers acquired the P-2 from there in July 1987 and it is now registered with D&G as N173AM, a registration linking to its BuNo 143173. The remains of '206' on the nose may be from the end of the sixties and ten years before that 143173 happened to be coded '7' with VP-21, a number now sprayed on the nose wheel door.
