9901 The first of two prototypes of the advanced version of the famous flying boat by Shin Maywa. 'Peacock 901' is carrying out test flights for the Technical Research and Development Institute of the Japan Defence Agency. According to a recent announcement the US-1A Kai will be redesignated US-2, making this preproduction ship an XUS-2. At the time of photographing it clearly still displayed its original designation. N15501 / H0180-H (cn 10955) On 8 December 2003 this actress left home for a lead role in the movie "Flight of the Phoenix". The trip would take her around the Atlantic Ocean, routing to Africa via the Canary Islands and returning in June 2004 via Brazil. She came back with fantasy registration H0180-H and 'XXExpress' titles and logo and still wears these. Parked in the Greybull museum but ready for duty, this bird is now for sale. [Velvia, F100] |
