Untitled
De Havilland DH-98 Mosquito T3
Stauning (STA / EKVJ)
Denmark, June 1995
Remark
Photographer
G-ASKH / RR299/HT-E (built in 1945). This aircraft was destroyed at a British airshow in July 1996. During an abrupt rolling motion, a misadjusted carburettor on the downgoing wing's engine cut off the fuel supply to that motor entirely, causing a huge imbalance of torque as that motor suddenly failed. This threw the aircraft into a low-altitude spin, from which the crew were unable to recover. Both occupants were killed, and this priceless piece of aviation history was totally destroyed.
