On Fantasy of Flight ramp:- a B-26 Marauder, B-25 Mitchell, Spitfire, Texan Wildcat, Stearman and New Standard. 158617 / AJ-216 (cn 18) At the very end of a cloudy day on board, the sun briefly broke through, bathing these six Tomcats of the Tophatters and Black Aces squadrons in golden light. To left and right are rows of F/A-18 Hornets. Midships, left, are SH-60F Seahawks. Far right is the tail of an S-3 Viking. There was a total of 35 aircraft on the flight deck. Seen from the ferry back to port. |

C-FHFV (cn 4) Rare civil version with rectangular windows of the miitary CH-46. Delivered to New York Airways as N6674D in 1962. Sold to Columbia Helicopters in 1972. Leased briefly to Helifor in British Columbia, seen here. Displayed at Comox on Vancouver Island with a fire-fighting Bambi water bucket. Holds the record for the highest flying time of any helicopter in the world. Still operational in 2012! |

G-ARXJ (cn 18370) Trans-Meridian were based at Southend. This flew back-to-back-charters for workers of the Ford Motor Company who had plants in Cork and at Dagenham in Essex. Note the rod beneath the tail to prevent the nose tipping up if the load was unevenly distributed. Later operated by Dan-Air London. |
