N18710 (cn 19224/559) Del 03/67. The cabins of N18710 looked very warm, well-maintained and inviting. Here is a shot of the economy section before passenger boarding for TWA's last 707 flight. |

SE-CCF (cn 45215/913) This is a poor photo but very interesting, an Ethiopian DC-6B ET-AAZ and an SAS DC-7C SE-CCF, collide on the ground over a break failure. Can you imagine a mechanical like this in Khartoum? Interestingly, both aircraft were repaired and put back into service. The DC-6 took nearly a month to restore, it looks like the DC-7C would have taken even longer. |

N***** Another dramatic 707 take-off, I was still shocked by the 707's power and the rate of climb, as I was used to the gentle Connies. Note the excellent mix of Constellations on the ground. |

F-BTDC (cn 46851/85) UTA's service mark was 'Specialist in Long Distances'. Aside from Braniff, this was the first paint scheme to depart shockingly from tradition. (GREEN doors???) Here, a DC-10 prepares for a non-stop from Papeete, Tahiti to LAX, the eastern-most point in the airline's route system. UTA offered a very nice standard of passenger service and meals. |

N***** In May of '68, just a few days before being fed to a smelter, a group of tails sit forlornly, at MCI, awaiting their undignified fate. TWA's last Constellation flight was in April, '67, just more than one year earlier. |

N18710 (cn 19224/559) The sun sets over Kennedy Airport and the wonderful era of TWA 707 service. Sure enough, we could barely deplane due to the crush of TV cameras and media to cover the arrival of N18710 (Del 03/67). The JFK TWA employees were surprised we had managed to turn this into a big event but readily joined in the enthusiasm. |

N7314C (cn 1016) Damage sustained after aborted take-off and main landing gear collapse. One of the procedures to prepare for a belly landing was to move passengers away from seats near the propeller line. This was because the props shattered as they began to touch the ground and they threw metal fragments into the fuselage, as you can see here. |

F-BHBL (cn 1020) An AF Starliner, F-BHBL, "Rochambeau", is serviced between flights as an Alitalia DC-7C taxis past. This aircraft served only from '57-'63 and was broken up at Orly in August of '67. This photo looks better than it did before Photoshop! It was taken with a Kodak Brownie camera! |
