Spectacular view of the Venice Lido airport while circling at 1.000ft, waiting to get our clearence to pass the runway extension of the close and more busy Venice Tessera airport. Built in 1909 was used mainly by military bombers during WWI and WWII. It then served as civil airport until the mid '50 when all the traffic moved to the near Tessera airport. The beauty of Venice and its lagoon fits perfectly as background. |

Very rare picture overflying what once was the Cortina d'Ampezzo Airport, in the middle of the Dolomites. Inaugurated in 1962 kept regular connection flights from Venice and Milan with Aeralpi Airlines. Since from opening large concern was created by the strong winds often present during take off. After several accidents operations from the airport ceased in 1976. Even if it has been converted in a large vehicles park, paradoxically it is still possible to compile a flight plan to this airport. |
