PL965 / R (cn 6S/504719) Before this aircraft was restored to flying condition and registered as G-MKXI, it was on outside display for 26 years (!) in this museum, located in the forest of Overloon. Which, by the way, is located on an original WWII battleground where lots of military hardware were left when the war was over, and which formed the beginnings of the museum. |

F-BEEA (cn 8552) Chateau de Verneuil; ex 44-85634. When retired from aerial mapping services by IGN she became a movie star, participating in the making of 'Memphis Belle' in the colors of 'Baby Ruth'. This also was to become her demise: she crashed and burned on take-off, 25 July 1989. |

N3710G / RG-B (cn 18759) An example of how things can go horribly wrong when a pilot overestimates his own abilities and those of the aircraft he’s flying. One week later, at Biggin Hill, the pilot tried to perform a manoeuvre which was well outside the flight envelope of the aircraft. Result: a fatal crash, taking 7 people with him. |

Shot down over Lake Balaton 1944, recovered 1999 (see Photo ID: 13669). Close-up of cockpit windows and the 'air scoop', which is in a peculiar place: on the upper side of the engine. The air duct curves down into the armoured tub which protects the pilot. The radiator is placed at the rear end of the Mikulin AM-38F engine, protected by the armoured fuselage to reduce vulnerability. |

3145 (cn 913145) While topping up the old Land Rover at a gas station near the town of Libhost I saw the nose of an aircraft peeking from behind the building. So... I took my camera and went to investigate. And take some pictures, of course. **UPDATE** Moved to Zruc Air Park where it is now on display as OK-LCC in old CSA colours. A/C was in CSA service from 1959 into 1966, when it was transferred to the Czechoslovakia Air Force as 3145. |
