N489HA (cn 55002/5003) Kai Tak Airport might be long gone, but Honolulu Airport has its version of the famous Kai Tak IGS runway 13 approach. During "Kona Wind" (southerly) operations at HNL, all arriving airliners are defaulted to the LDA/DME runway 26L, a non-precision approach with the localizer offset by 45° from runways 26L and 26R. Taking you past Diamond Head, Waikiki Beach and downtown Honolulu before the final turn toward the runway, this approach is always a thrill to both the pilots and passengers. N489HA is pictured making the final turn on the circle-to-land segment for runway 26R, after completing the LDA/DME 26L approach. |

N704SA (cn 24195/718) Bathed in the last rays of evening sunlight, Southern Air's albino B742F leaps off from runway 25L leaving a plume of jetwash in its wake. Originally delivered to Korean Air Cargo in 1988, this relatively young B747 classic then briefly saw service with Cargo 360 before joining the Southern Air fleet in 2008. |

HS-TUA (cn 087) As Thai's inaugural A380 flight gets underway, the flight attendants begin to distribute Thai A380-branded bags to the lucky passengers. The entire lower deck and the rear of the upper deck is configured with a total of 435 economy class seats, each having a 32" seat pitch and equipped with a 10.6" touchscreen Panasonic ex2 system. As TG600 to Hong Kong was the airline's maiden A380 flight, it's no surprise that the load factor was an impressive 507/507! Despite the full load, the crew made it a memorable flight for everyone. |

9V-OTC (cn 28509/86) Climbing out from SIN, we passed over a beautifully-lit Batam island, situated roughly 15 miles south of Changi Airport. As there weren't many entertainment options offered onboard, I ended up staring out of the window for much of the flight; this pretty much ensured that no photo opportunities were missed. Enroute from SIN-SYD on TZ2. |

HS-TGX (cn 27725/1134) The pretty Thai flight attendants are seen distributing drinks before the breakfast service on board TG403, BKK-SIN. For a short period at the end of 2012, this flight was upgauged from a B773 to the newer configured B744s (config codes 74R and 74N). Pictured is the 74R, featuring ZIM seats with AVOD behind every seatback in Y, although J and F remain identical to config 7443. As the 6 74Rs were completed in 2012, Thai began to refurbish another batch of B744s (config 7442) to 74N, which has an even more superior product in Y and F when compared to the 74R. This currently leaves TG with 4 different B744 configurations. Gotta love variety! |

P2-ANA (cn 24541/275) After many failed attempts to nail a good shot of an Air Niugini B763 in Singapore—after seeing it arrive just after the sun slipped below the horizon or underneath the shadow of a cloud—luck was finally on my side. As P2-ANA pushed out of gate C16, it was likely that only a rear-angle shot of this aircraft was possible as the ground crew normally point the aircraft out facing taxilane NC3, an active taxiway. However, someone decided to have this bird face in toward the terminal that night, and for me, the result was ultimately a success! |

(cn 23257/1124) Trucked to ITE College Central's impressive new campus in Ang Mo Kio in early 2012, this B737-300 has since been reassembled and painted with a customized "Air ITE" livery. Looking magnificent under the floodlights, this aircraft sees a new life—not flying, but giving students a hands-on opportunity with aircraft maintenance and other related courses. Though I'm not 100% certain, this particular airframe could possibly be line number 1124—former PK-AWU of Indonesia AirAsia. |

N514PR (cn 24514/1768) Dusk approaches, painting the high clouds with various shades of salmon-pink. It's just another typical day of lying around in the Arizona desert for this retired KLM B734. The aircraft's windows, sensors and other inlets are covered up in anticipation of long-term storage; it's unclear what the future of this B734 is. |

N477HA / 77 (cn 55122/5061) When Hawaii's prevailing tradewinds stop blowing, vog (volcanic haze) from the Big Island's active Kīlauea Volcano can quickly spread throughout the main Hawaiian Island chain. In addition to the reduced visibility, these conditions bring along unfavorably hot and humid weather. A Hawaiian B712 is photographed completing another inter-island hop, bathed in a characteristic reddish hue from the vog and low sun. |
