L2940 This Skua landed on a frozen Norwegian lake and the cockpit area was set alight by the crew. The aircraft subsequently sank into the lake and was recovered in 1974. It is preserved at the Fleet Air Arm Museum in an incredible underwater diorama in 'as found' condition - no major restoration necessary! Near the camera is the starboard wing, the port is behind it. Front fuselage and engine is to the left, with the rear fuselage area in the distance. |

G-CDRM (cn PFA 323-14203) Lying inverted on the runway following a crash on landing. The nosewheel appeared to dig into the ground and the aircraft flipped over (Note the broken nosewheel and grass in the air intake). Both occupants escaped without major injuries. |

G-ARPH (cn 2108) Almost unbelievably, this preserved airliner is being scrapped. The cockpit section is apparently going to be saved. Very sad, but I guess everything comes to an end eventually. Thanks for the display years you gave us Papa Hotel! |

G-CDRM (cn PFA 323-14203) After a flip over on landing this aircraft was moved off the strip to allow safe operations to continue. The crew escaped serious injury. The damage to the wingtip and nose-gear is quite apparent. It is worth comparing the nose-gear in this image with Robert Beaver's image taken a few weeks before on April 28th. |

G-BXIJ (cn 076 & PFA 247-12698) Not sure what happened, but while landing on this grass strip 'IJ ended up sliding on its belly. In this image it has just stopped and the occupants are about to exit. No injuries, though a couple of the propellor tips were broken. The aircraft was trucked out later in the day, but was soon back in the air where she belongs. |
