No. 17 flew night-time reconnaissance over London in September 1914 to evaluate the potential threat posed by raiding Zeppelins. Later sent to France for reconnaissance and spotting missions for Belgian artillery. The redesigned car of Beta II was boat-shaped with seats for a three-man crew with two propellers.
