PK-GPJ (cn 988) Yet another A332 in Garuda's new livery. Unlike her "sistership" in similar colours, this one has the "Visit Indonesia Year 2009" logo on the rear fuselage. Garuda Indonesia seems to be on its way with a lovely new corporate identity, fleet renewal and the lifting of a ban by the EU. |

PK-GPH (cn 1020) A surprise visitor to Singapore was this beautiful A330-200 in Garuda Indonesia's new colours. Very pleasing to the eye and it will take a while to get use to not seeing the bird-logo on the tail. |

F-GZNE (cn 37432/790) A first visit by this Air France Skyteam logojet . . . weather was not great but the silver fuselage was rather forgiving of this shortcoming. |

9V-STA (cn 978) After its handover to Singapore Airlines a short while earlier, this A330 was towed away in preparation for a series of crew training sorties before its planned delivery on 29 January 2009. Most grateful to the engineer from Airbus for facilitating this shot. |

On 10 Mar 2009, it will debut officially on the Singapore-Brishane route, marking the 25th anniversary of this route for SIA. |

A6-HLC (cn 46126/524) This rare HeavyLift DC-8-63F made a surprise visit to Singapore as HVL401, arrivng from Bangkok. Frankly, this generation of aircraft is so rare I cannot remember the last time I photographed a DC-8 in SIN. |

VH-OEB (cn 25778/983) The first B747 to show off Qantas revised livery is seen here arriving from London enroute to Sydney. This livery was applied by the subsidiary of one of its keenest competitor - Singapore Airlines Engineering Company - and it actually looks quite a lot better on the B747 than on the A330-200s. |

PK-TMA (cn 21697/1471) Still wearing the basic colours of Transmile Air, this B727F is a regular sighting in Singapore along with a B732F in the same livery. The clean lines of the B727 can easily be appreciated from this perspective. |

9V-SKB (cn 005) SIA's maiden A380 flight to London-Heathrow rotates as it takes off with 455 passengers onboard - including a group of A380 "First To Fly" aviation enthusiasts onboard. Severe slot restrictions at Heathrow is the chief reason for SIA's purchase of the A380 and no doubt all three daily frequencies will at some point be operated with this silent giant. |

VP-BVR (cn 26637/943) Aeroflot previous could not sustain its operations to Singapore and terminted its services. Transaero came and operated a twice-weekly B763 service. The B747 takes over this duty during the cold Russian winters and for the first time, this duty extends far beyond the first fortnight of January. |

9V-SKA (cn 003) Delayed by an electrical storm, Singapore Airlines' first A380 departed from Sydney more than 2 hours late. Although the weather over the airfield was dismal, the sun burst through 25 mins after take-off - painting the A380's huge Trent 900 engines a brilliant orange. |
